Those are SO cute!

One dozen Japanese quail eggs fit easily into a tea cup. Each one a unique design, almost like a found pebble on the beach.

They do hard cook up rather nicely.

Then...surprise! The shell is a lovely blue green color inside.

What a perfect size for a child's tea party, or made as Deviled Eggs for an appetizer.

The Farmer's Market is done.
I like having Quail eggs as a bite sized snack.

Wonder how hard it would be to have a couple of quail out back in a nice little aviary once we get a house again (some day) ?

Anyone out there know any (Japanese Quail) egg farmers who might want to help me get started??????

In case you were wondering, (like AT was in the comments)... the fresh quail eggs taste exactly like chicken eggs, except they seemed just a bit more tender. I've scrambled them and hard cooked them,; both methods gave me a flavorful treat. My daughter LauraRN insists that I am missing the best flavors by cooking them at all.

Oh momma! Again.... Raw, hack off the top, splash a bit of soy sauce, thin sliced green onion, masago eggs, taken as a shot! Yummmm!!!!

That is so tiny and cute. My favorite part is the blue-green inner lining. How very haute couture!

hmmm, perhaps I could hook you up with a nice Hyline hen. . but that's the best I can do.
Those eggs are very cute, our layers squirt those out at the beginning too.

I've got to know...do they taste like chicken...eggs?

I've always seen the pickled variety in the Asian market, and I steer clear of them.

I've never tasted quail eggs - but I am thinking of getting some Rhode Island Reds.

They are cute. I might be willing to try them your way (scrambled or hard-boiled) but I believe I'll pass on Laura's preferred method!

Ohh...I've never had a quail egg.. but they intrigue me! How cute they would be on a platter of tiny deviled eggs!
I'm sorry, Laura, cooked please!!!

There must be something that could be done with the pretty shells!
