NaNoWriMo 2006: Final statistics

Final Statistics for National Novel Writing Month 2006

79,718 people registered globally
12,941 people "won"

(Won=wrote their 50,000 word novel in 30 days).

354 people registered in Houston
86 people "won" (four for four in Kingwood)

Globally, 121 people wrote novels that fit into the religious fiction genre. I was one of them.

Austin TX was third globally for participation, however they only had 136 winners.

In 2005 there were 59,000 registered (I think that was a rough count) and 9,767 completed.

Those are pretty amazing statistics, considering the whole idea first started in 1999 with 22 people writing, and six completing.
