And no, I don't mean the Swine Flu.
Things around here are much more serious than that.
My MOG periwinkle lavender/blue toned dress is not back yet...and I have to figure out what shoes to wear to the wedding.
Since I didn't have the dress to work with, I just bought shoes that might work.
Now before I discuss each option, please note the size of the heels on the above shoes.
I don't wear heels.
I wear loafers and Crocs.
They do make high heel Crocs now, but they just didn't look quite right, and I didn't think gluing some extra do-dads to them would make any difference, except to possibly make the wedding guest chortle and guffaw as I walk down the aisle on my son's arm.
There is already too much violence in the world, so I won't go into how my son would feel about me clomping along in regular Crocs.
I tend to walk out of the back one of the shoes, as I have a very narrow right heel. A heel "snug" could work.
They are also the highest of all the heels.
The least comfortable of the shoes, selected only because of the lavender tones. I don't like snake skin, but maybe they would really rock with the outfit.
Hoo boy.
So I showed all of these to B. and he expresses his doubts that I will be comfortable in high heels. I explain that I will just need to go down the aisle and back up and stand a bit for pictures, then I can switch to....
Of course the shoe decision will influence the purse decision. I have a silver satin baguette bag, and I *had* a satin navy clutch that I can't find, and that I am hoping I gave to Laura, because there sure as heck aren't any navy dress purses out there. There are hardly any navy shoes out there...Nordstroms had exactly three navy pumps. Silver, gold, black, brown and red are very popular...NOT navy.
I'm calling about my dress today. Really, it should be done by now. I've got a list of 13 things I've got to do by Wednesday, working around my work schedule. No stress...no stress.....
Oh, and I have to figure out what song I want to dance to with my son at the wedding. He just informed me last night that that would be included in the reception.
I am a terrible dancer.
I suppose I will have to stay in heels until after that is over.
Eeek.
Have an ambulance ready....

I am terrible at songs ..but I do think those sling backs with the pointed toe are awesome. They look very glamourous. . and I'd have them tucked under the table and then slip them on before the dance if you must wear them for the dance. I think that the lower reception shoes are lovely.
My second favorite are the silver shoes. . .it is so hard to say without the outfit. . but there you go .. that is my humble opinion.
My suggestions:
Songs? Pick a slow enough number and talk to your son through the dancing.
Shoes? I really don't know. I NEED comfort when it comes to shoes even though I know you only have to walk the aisle and do one dance.
List? NO stress. you sound like you have a list. Pick the most important and do them first. If you don't have time for anymore, don't stress the small stuff.
Have fun. No one will remember your shoes. The eyes are on the bride.
We'll practice this week...slow, slow, quick,quick step....I like Lovella's idea of under the table. Don't worry about the dance, you will be beautiful and sharing the floor with your son.

I'll go with Lovella's shoe suggestions, too. My high-heeled shoes did not stay on my feet after the wedding, even though I didn't bring a pair for the reception. I just did like any good Kentucky girl and went barefoot...in my shimmery sage floor-length MOB dress. ;)
Song...tough decision. I have no suggestions but do have a cute memory. When the daughter of a dear friend (the daughter is a dear friend, too) married a few years ago, her Dad surprised her with the father-daughter dance song - it was the theme from "Sesame Street!" Had there been dancing at my daughter's wedding, it probably would have been "Fraggle Rock."
Back to the kitchen...I'm watching the cabinet installer!
Hal and I have been thinking about a song that would be nice to listen to and slow and easy to dance with Jeff. Our suggestion is 'Serenade Of The Bells' played by Sammy Kaye or I'm sure there are other artists who also play it.
I like all the shoes, but wondered about the heels. Glad you have some pretty flats for later, when you can change. Time is short and we are excited! See you all soon.

Since I have no idea what your relationship with your son is like...it would be sort of impossible to hit onto a song that would be appropriately perfect..

PS Our addition is for our single daughter...and later will be our place when we are old and senile.

I agree with B. I love the navy sling backs. Second choice is the silver shoes.

My,its great that we all our opinions! I just know that it is a good thing to hold onto them lightly! - on that note, if you really are asking..., I would go for a compromise of both comfort and style. I like the silver ones. Having long feet, the pointed ones kill my toes. And I know exactly what you mean by having your heals slip out of the back. The sling backs are good for staying more securely on, giving a better grip, thus balance. There, that's my opinion. Do what you feel most comfortable doing. The last thing you want is to be thinking about your feet on an exciting occasion like your son's wedding! Have fun!
